The Ultimate Hotdog


For Hotdogs

  • 4 hotdog buns
  • 4 high-quality RSPCA Assured sausages
  • 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons organic butter

For Homemade Tomato Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano


The Hotdogs

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter, add thinly sliced onions, and saute until golden brown.
  2. Preheat your BBQ and grill the sausages until nicely charred, turning occasionally (about 8 to 10 minutes).

Homemade Tomato Sauce

  1. Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until translucent.
  3. Add the crushed tomatoes, sugar, dried oregano, salt, and pepper to the saucepan.
  4. Stir well to combine.
  5. Reduce heat and simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
