# RSPCA Assured RSPCA Assured is a non-profit organisation dedicated to improving the welfare of farmed animals in the UK. As the RSPCA's farmed animal welfare assurance scheme, we check more than 4,000 farms and businesses have met the RSPCA’s farmed animal welfare standards every year. So when you see the RSPCA Assured label on food packaging and menus, it means the farms – and every stage of the animals’ lives – have been assessed to the RSPCA’s strict standards. ## Core scheme information [Who we are](https://www.rspcaassured.org.uk/who-we-are) RSPCA Assured is the RSPCA’s ethical food label and farmed animal welfare assurance scheme. We ensure farmed animals are reared to higher welfare standards, set by the RSPCA, through independent assessments and science-led guidance. By choosing RSPCA Assured labelled products, consumers help improve the lives of millions of UK farm animals. [Assessments](https://www.rspcaassured.org.uk/assessments) Trained assessors conduct annual in-depth checks and unannounced spot visits to ensure members meet the RSPCA’s strict higher welfare standards. These assessments cover every stage of an animal's life, from health and diet to environment and care. If a farm or business fails to meet the standards, they risk suspension or removal from the scheme. This means their products can no longer carry the RSPCA Assured label. [The standards](https://www.rspcaassured.org.uk/standards) The RSPCA’s welfare standards ensure farmed animals have a comfortable living space with room to move and play, a comfortable living space and an interesting environment to support their mental and physical health. These science-led standards cover every aspect of an animal’s life and don’t allow the use of cages or crates. By adhering to these requirements, members provide higher welfare environments for species ranging from livestock to farmed fish. [Compare product range](https://www.rspcaassured.org.uk/supermarkets) RSPCA Assured labelled products are available at major UK supermarkets, including Aldi, Co-op, Lidl, M&S, Morrisons, Ocado, Sainsbury's, and Tesco.
