Raw salmon

What is salmon?
Salmon is a saltwater fish, but what makes it (almost) unique in the fish world is that it swims through estuaries and upstream to find freshwater where it can reproduce. Salmon is often known as the fish for people who don’t like fish due to its meaty texture and delicate flavour.

What are the benefits of eating salmon?
Salmon is rich in omega-3. Omega-3 has been associated with health benefits including cognitive

health and cardiovascular improvements. Salmon also contains high amounts of B vitamins, selenium and potassium.

Salmon features prominently in the Mediterranean diet and while this cannot be linked directly to good health; the Mediterranean diet has been shown to be one of the healthiest in the world, aiding in weight loss, mental health, and overall longevity.

Is salmon good for you?

But, many speak of its flavour and the fact that delicious food is likely to put a contented smile on your face; so in that respect, yes, salmon is good for you.

What do I do with salmon?
Salmon is a very versatile fish; its meaty

texture makes it ideal for dishes with a strong flavour. Salmon can be cooked in a variety of ways, it can be poached, grilled, baked, made into burgers, tossed with pasta, glazed, smoked or even eaten raw.

What do you eat salmon with?
Salmon’s strong flavour means it needs a hearty plate companion to really satisfy your palate. We find that salmon goes excellently with roast potatoes, fine beans, rice, and especially dishes with a distinct ginger flavour.
