Seeded Flapjacks

Flapjacks are surprisingly easy to make and are a great energy-filled snack for when you’re on the go. You can play around with the ingredients to create your ultimate treat; try small pieces of your favourite dried fruit or crushed nuts. 

If you use dairy-free spread, this recipe is suitable for vegans too. 

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Cooking time: 15 minutes

Makes: 16 flapjacks

Ingredients

125g butter or dairy-free spread
30ml golden syrup
225g porridge oats
1tsp ground ginger
125g demerara sugar
30g pumpkin seeds
30g sunflower seeds
40g raisins

Method

Turn oven on to 200⁰C/fan oven 180 C/Gas Mark 6 

Grease and line a 20cm square tin with greaseproof paper.

Melt butter and golden syrup in a medium-size saucepan.

When melted, add all the rest of the ingredients and mix well.

Spoon the contents into a lined baking tin and level out with the back of a spoon until even all over.

Bake in the oven for around 15 minutes until golden brown.

When cool, cut into squares or bars and wrap individual pieces in greaseproof paper for later.
