Method

Try our bangin' RSPCA Assured sausage wrap recipe and get fired up for bonfire night! A chilly (or wet!) Guy Fawkes night is a great chance to cook good, warming food. And even better, these wraps are made with higher animal welfare RSPCA Assured sausages. They’re the perfect accompaniment to the smell of fireworks, sparklers, the excitement and an evening out in the cold air.

  • Cook your sausages as per the instructions.
  • Sauté the onions in the oil with the thyme until soft.
  • Add the garlic and sugar to the pan and continue to cook gently.
  • When the sugar has melted and the garlic has softened, add the vinegar and season.
  • When the sausages are cooked, slice lengthways and place into a warm wrap.
  • Crumble over some feta cheese and top with the onion mixture.

Fireworks night facts

  • November 5 is called Guy Fawkes night (aka bonfire night and fireworks night)
  • It’s a British tradition which marks a failed attempt by Guy Fawkes and other plotters to blow up the Houses of Parliament in the gunpowder plot of 1605
  • November 5 was initially known as gunpowder treason day and bonfires were lit as a celebration that the king hadn’t been killed
  • Guy Fawkes and his fellow plotters were sentenced to death on 31 January 1606
  • Some people think the fireworks display tradition comes from an older, perhaps pagan, festival marking the end of the harvest and beginning of winter
  • Have a fun, safe bonfire night! 🎇🌭🎆
